DJ Workshop at Mess Hall with DJ David Chavez

Please join Jane Palmer and Marianne Fairbanks with very special guest David Chavez for a DJ-ing workshop. As well as being the resident DJ for Mess Hall, Chavez spins deep house and afro-beats throughout the area, and is a mainstay at Streetside bar on Kedzie on Saturday nights and at Subterranean on North Ave. on Wednesday nights. He is Chicago based and makes frequent guest appearances at the Hothouse on Balbo, at parties, and other art venues and night clubs in and out of Chicago.

This workshop will happen in two parts on two separate evenings. The first workshop was a guide about DJ-ing: what it means to DJ, the equipment used, history and techniques, including different styles and mixing. At the second workshop, Chavez will explain "the mix", as well as provide a hands-on experience for everyone interested in spinning.
